The result of the October 1st Fish and Game hearing, is that the issue has been tabled until 1st quarter of the fiscal year.
Everyone worked well together, and even though the comment time was shortened to 2 minutes, instead of 3 minutes, a lot was said. A video of the meeting will be posted soon.
Thank you everybody for your signatures and diligence!

I live here in Sao Paulo/Brazil. I worked as a volunteer with a wolves sanctuary in Oregon last year. I support the fight of California Pet Owners against this crime. I am a journalist and I’ll write about this horrible legislation.Brazil needs to know what’s happening in California. Men, women and children in the beautiful California, be brave, don’t give up.Kiss your wolfdogs today. I’ll be with all you in heart and prayers. Ezio
Thanks to all the people who cared enough to sign, fax & email CA Fish & Game. I’m blown away by the power of the Net and the human spirit. We are now prepared for the next battle.
Have a great weekend to all our wolfy friends,
Lee Ann, Brian, Chindi & Taima

The best part was what an actual warden said at the end:
Wolf Dogs are mentioned under Regulation #671 and we are safe!!!!! #681, the regulation that the hearing was about pertains to hybrids that are not mentioned in Regulation #671. The regulation the hearing was about has been tabled until the first quarter and public comment will still be accepted.
Thank you to the people that showed up, you were freaking GREAT!!! A Dr. with a PHD showed up with a 90 percent wolf dog that is his service dog and a member of the commission said that it was better behaved then his dogs. They even asked the Dr for help in re-writing the regulation!
Now that the first round is over, we can all breath a little easier for the time being..Just keep in mind that we have been handed the opportunity to get on with this fully armed for the next battle..KEEP this issue as a priority, PLZ add this Web-Site to your favorites & check it often…I encourage everyone here to talk to everybody you meet about this issue..(Even non-Pet owners as they are Tax Payers.) I am recruiting PPL who had no idea about this Bill..One works at our local Post Office (has Huskies) one is the Head of our Fire Safe Coucil here (has a Wolf-Dog & a GSD Mix.) Our local Groomer is also becoming involved! All 3 of these ladies know lots of PPL! We have a local paper here called The Mtn Yoddler..The paper is mailed to local residents once a month & we can put Flyers in those papers..I have to get all the details on that & would figure that tool could come into play when we are soliciting for more heavy Petition signing..We could get Flyers out with that paper maybe around March..
My questions are: Will we be able to keep all sigs (1,417) collected so far & use them again or will that process have to start all over from scratch? Where does Petiton signing stand to date? Are PPL being encouraged to just keep on signing as we go along?
EVERYONE: there is a transcription of the casual comments made after the pro-wolfdog speakers at the oct. 1st F&G meeting which shed valuable light on where the Commissioners’ heads are at. This transcription was made in order to use this information to buttress up our position and dismantle 681. They know they are uneducated about wolfdogs, that is clear. they are also scared of bringing lawsuits upon themselves. i also believe they are not bad people. i think they are reasonable, especially pres. jim kellog, and that, if we all take action and write them and show up to the next meeting PREPARED with experts, scientists/genetics, lawyers and non-emotional private citizens and rescuers to testify, it will make a HUGE impact in our favor. it appears they were willing to table the issue for 9 months.
The transcription will be posted on this site shortly, please read and then PASS THIS INFO ALONG to the people in your e mail groups so that we can all prepare for the next meeting, which is what the SAID they want from us. they WANT to see more people at the next meeting and this, i am quite sure this will allow us to prevail.
P.S. who was the doctor in the wheelchair who showed up with the white wolfdog? he not only did a great job, he was pivotal. (yes, they asked him for help in writing the regulation). WE NEED HIM AND OTHER EXPERTS LIKE HIM AT THE NEXT MEETING.
The first hurdle has been breached…they know who we are and that many more of us are out there. I am currently putting together an educational presentation that I hope to present to the Commision at the Nov. 5 hearing. If anyone has any kind of verifiable info or photos, please let me know and I will contact you individually, if your stuff (data) will be incorporated into the presentation. Please feel free to contact any members of the CAPetBan steering committee on this issue.
I cannot begin to convey the gratitude and amazement that so many people could come together so quickly, united in a common cause, and work so well together in such a short time. To each and everyone who participated in this, the first of many battles on behalf of our animal companions of choice, I say “Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!”
The Dr’s name is Dr. David Ostrach of UC Davis.
PLZ let us know when the FLYER has been updated..All of the ones I stuck on Bulletin Boards were pulled due to the Oct 1st date..I was going to add my own update to the existing ones, but was too late..I know it’s too early to post new ones now, but if we all carry some in our cars, I know we WILL find opportunities to pass them out to individuals…Thanx…
